David Edds - Making an Impact
David Edds began his education as a journalism major. Like many college students, he changed his mind. After taking a captivating class and spending some time with an advisor who truly cared, he found his passion in the biological sciences. He didn’t know it then, but a big part of his career would be relaying enthusiasm and knowledge to students, allowing them to discover their passions too. Today, he does this as a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Emporia State University.
Bill Blair, one of David’s students, shared his pride for his favorite professor in an award winning essay. He referred to David as “pure-hearted with an amazing sense of humor; soFISHticated if you will.” Bill is now in his second year of graduate school at Emporia State and ecstatic to be realizing his dream of working with fish. He says “Through the bait times and the crappie times, there has always been one professor in the biology department who is there for me.”
You can see why at Emporia State it's all about teaching, interacting with students and making the difference between taking a course because it's required and taking a course because you are hungry to learn more. At Emporia State, we make an impact.
