In the last four years, 13 of 15 Hornet athletic teams have competed in NCAA post season competition. In the last three years, Softball, Baseball and Basketball teams have played in the National Championship game highlighted with ESU women winning the 2010 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship.

Honors College

Our Honors College experience offers a unique opportunity that rivals that of a private university. Once accepted to the college, you will learn to create adaptive solutions with an emphasis on being an agent of change and making the world a better place. The Honors Program offers more than just academic opportunities; there are many social and leadership opportunities too. Foundation Scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $3,600 are available for students with a 26+ ACT and a 3.5 GPA, so check your eligibility!

Multicultural Activities

The Office of Diversity & Inclusion supports and recognizes the value of diversity and a respect for individual ideas, opinions, and experiences. Students and staff provide opportunities within and outside the classroom that foster respect for diverse groups of people.


Community Hornets is a program dedicated to meeting the volunteer needs of the Emporia area and connecting Emporia State students with the community. The organization provides opportunities to organize and participate in activities like Clean Sweep Emporia. Members create and maintain a calendar of up-to-date service opportunities.

Student Government

Associated Student Government is a group of involved students who play an active role in university-wide, community and state programs and policymaking processes. By learning from the past, actively engaging the present, and building for the future, ASG works to improve student life.
